Two roads leave the city, and they go opposite ways
Most people who spend a week in Latakia end up driving in two directions. One road runs flat and bright along the shore, past the port and out of town. The other turns east and climbs into the coastal mountains, where the air changes within half an hour of leaving the seafront. Having your own keys is what lets you take both in the same week instead of building the day around someone else's timetable.
